VXI-11 HTML Installation Utility lets users load custom HTML files into ICS's 8xxx series products. The VXI-11 HTML Installation Utility is a VXI-11 client program.
The VXI-11 HTML Installation Utility is very easy to use. Once you have linked to the device that you want to load files into, the program lets you add files in the list box and upload them to the unit’s flash memory. When done, reboot the unit and exit the program.
Prepare your web pages and image files for uploading by putting all of them in the same directory. You can use any directory on the C drive of your computer. The 80xx utility only accepts .gif, .html, .jpg and .png files. Other file types will not be uploaded. Do not exceed 63 kbytes of file space or some files will not be uploaded correctly.
Use the Find Server and Create Link buttons to find and link to your 80xx interface. Linking to the interface will enable the remaining controls on the program window.
The recommended connection to the device to be configured is
either with a LAN crossover cable or with a standard LAN cable to the same hub
or network switch that connects to your PC. IMPORTANT - Unplug
the uplink cable from the network switch so that the new 80xx will not
interfere with other network devices until it is configured.
Set the PC's network connection setting to the same IP
address range as the new 80xx product.
The recommended network settings are:
IP Address 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
To change your PC IP settings, right click on My Network
Places and select Properties. Right click on Local Area Connection and again select
properties. Select Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) and again select properties. Record the current settings so that you can restore them
after the device is configured. Check ‘Use the following IP address’ and enter
the values given above. Click
okay.
The first thing you need to do is use the Find Server button at the top of the window. This will scan the local subnet for any VXI-11 servers. Your 80xx interface is a VXI-11 server. This should take about 1 second, after which the pull down list will present a list of all VXI-11 servers located. Simply pull down the list and select the server (80xx interface) you wish to establish a link to. If the desired server is beyond scanning reach, type in the name (or IP) of the server and the name (IP) will be used instead. Once you have identified the server you wish to link with, use the Select and Create Link button to establish a link.
NOTE: The search for VXI-11 servers is done with a UDP Broadcast. As such, the existence of switches and routers can affect the results of the search. Furthermore, it should be noted that a search typically encompasses a Class-C domain (x.x.x.1-x.x.x.254). If a server fails to show when you expect it to, speak with your IT staff.
CAUTION: Your PC must have the same IP address range setting (Class C domain ) as the IP address of the device being configured.
The VXI-11 HTML Installation Utility queries the linked device for an ID message. The ID message is displayed in the Find Server Results window so you can verify that you are linked to the correct ICS device. Non-ICS devices will not respond to the ID query.
Use the Directory and File list boxes to navigate to the directory containing the html, .gif, .jpg, .png, .hgl and .xml files to be uploaded into to the 80xx interface. Your files should appear in the left hand File list box.
Press the Clear List button once to initialize the HMTL Files window with the three files that are required for the 80xx’s WebServer. The user can manually enter additional html or graphic files in the window or enter files listed in an external text file.
To manually enter files, select a file in the lower left File List Window and click the Add File button. The file will be appended to those shown in the HTML File list window. Repeat until all of the files you want to upload are listed in the HTML File list window. Press the Save to Flash button to upload the files to the 80xx’s flash memory.
To use an external file method, edit the supplied userlist.txt file in Notepad so that it lists the desired file names. Include any necessary graphic files. Save the file in the directory with the VXI-11 HTML Installation Utility program. Press the Load list from ‘userlist.txt’ button to load the File list window. Press the Save to Flash button to upload the files to the 80xx’s flash memory.
The unit has to be rebooted or power cycled before the changes will take affect. Press the Reboot Unit button to send a reboot command to the device.
CAUTION: If you changed the 80xx's IP settings to match your network, your PC may have to be reconfigured back to its original IP settings to talk to it.
Press Exit to leave the utility program.
